The Toyota Recall – What Owners & Buyers Need to Know
Toyota originally began recalling models due to accelerator problems back in October of 2009. This week’s recall and suspension of sales was much more extensive, covering eight Toyota models. Toyota says that the likelihood of the accelerator sticking is "extraordinarily rare" and that unless drivers have experienced problems they can continue driving their vehicles.
If you are driving and the accelerator sticks, Toyota says the vehicle can still be stopped by using the brakes. Put both feet to the brake pedal and apply steady pressure – do not pump. Shift into neutral and brake until your car comes to a stop. Turn of the vehicle and contact your dealership for towing services.
