2012 Mazda CX-7 Review
The Mazda CX-7 was introduced at the 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show, and it was officially made available in the spring as a 2007 model. This 2012, the Mazda CX-7 is on its last model year to give way to the equally capable Mazda CX-5. Power comes courtesy of either a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder or a turbocharged 2.3-liter engine.

What is the Predicted Reliability:
In the Initial Quality Study of J.D. Power and Associates, the 2012 Mazda CX-7 received 5 out of 5 in body and interior quality, and got 4 out of 5 in overall powertrain quality. Models that were manufactured between 2007 and 2008 had significant problems in the engine and air conditioning systems, but all of these were fixed beginning with the 2009 model.
Analysis Of Safety Ratings And Features:
The 2012 Mazda CX-7 was not yet tested by the NHTSA, but it got the highest score of ‘Good’ in front-offset and side impact crash tests from the IIHS. Safety equipment includes stability control, traction control and front side/side curtain airbags.

The Volkswagen Tiguan costs around $600 more but it does have a nicer interior and more powerful bas engine than the Mazda CX-7. The Kia Sportage costs around $3,500 less but its base engine produces 15 less horsepower than the CX-7. The 2012 Mazda CX-7 also returns 20/27 MPG with the base engine, and 18/24 with the turbocharged 2.3-liter engine.
