What’s New For 2008:
What is the Predicted Reliability:
J.D. Power gives the G35 3.5 stars for mechanical and design quality. Problems with the first G35 included noisy belts, troublesome shifting, brake noise, cold start issues and swelling radiator cap gaskets. No recalls have been issued. Expect above average reliability. The basic warranty lasts for four years or 50,000 miles.
Analysis Of Safety Ratings And Features:
The G35 earned 4.5 stars in government frontal crash tests and 5 stars side tests. In IIHS tests, it earned “Good” for the front and “Marginal” for the rear. Anti-lock brakes, brake assist, full side airbags, active head restraints, and stability and traction control come standard.
Pros and Cons:
Pros

Head-To-Head Competition:
The BMW 3-Series costs almost $1,000 more, has more brand prestige, but has over 70 less hp. The Lexus IS costs over $1,000 less, but has about 100 less hp. The Chrysler 300 C costs about a thousand more, but has a V8 with about 50 more hp.
What Others Are Saying:
“Responsive handling and a powerful engine make the 2007 Infiniti G35 an excellent driver’s car. The cabin’s tech options should satisfy buyers who want digital entertainment and cell phone integration.” – C|Net
“In its chassis tuning, its tightened embrace of technology, and–if you load up on all the new options–its price, the G35 is, more than ever, a Japanese 3-series.” – Automobile Magazine
“If you compare apples to apples, the faster (though faster depreciating) G35 Sport is a more elegant and exciting steer than a similarly-priced 3-Series. Unfortunately, that’s not how most pistonheads see things. The cast their eyes upon the ultimate ultimate flickable sports sedan driving machine- the new twin-turbo BMW 335i- and cede victory to the Germans. On one hand, that’s not fair. In the real world, enthusiasts have only so much money and want it to go as far- and fast- as possible. On the other hand, image demands that at least some version of their chosen ride is top dog, period. Until that day arrives for Infiniti’s dogged G35, until it finds that final measure of poise at 9 or 10/10ths, it will continue to be, in many eyes, the “alternative” option. That sucks.” – The Truth About Cars
