2008 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD Review The Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD is available in 3 body styles, regular cab, extended cab and crew cab. Available trims are the base Work Truck, LT and LTZ. Buyers can select from a conventional single-rear-wheel (SRW) or dual-rear-wheel (DRW) configuration and the regular as well as extended cab are only available with an 8’ long bed. Crew cabs can come with standard 6.5’ bed lengths (only with SRW). The Silverado 3500HD is powered with a standard 6.0 liter gasoline V8 engine producing 360hp and 380lb-ft of torque, with a 6 speed automatic transmission. Optional is a 6.6 liter V8 turbo-diesel that produces 387hp with 765lb-ft of torque ideal for those who tow/haul on a regular basis. Properly equipped the Silverado 3500HD can haul up to 6,355lbs and tow up to 17,000lbs with standard hitch, 21,700 with a 5th wheel connection.
